Prince William is finding it difficult to forgive his brother, Prince Harry, for what he perceives as cruel, callous, and unrealistic comments about Princess Kate. A royal expert has revealed that the relationship between the Sussexes and the Prince and Princess of Wales remains tense following the fallout from Harry and Meghan's departure from the royal family.
Former BBC Royal correspondent Michael Cole explained that the allegations made by Harry and Meghan in their Netflix series and interviews have left William too damaged to bridge the gap. "Of course, his mother, the late Princess of Wales, Diana, I can't help but think about her because when those boys were young, she made them promise each other that they would always be friends," Cole told Radio Times.
"I think that returning to his hometown will make Harry think about his mother's words and perhaps begin to reconcile with his brother. That happens, minimal, and nothing. I would put my money on nothing. I don't think Prince William is ready to talk to his brother; the hurt is too deep, too real, too raw," Cole added.
According to Cole, Harry's actions have deeply wounded William, particularly regarding the treatment of Kate. "Men don't like their partner to be humiliated. I'm afraid Prince Harry and Meghan have said cruel, unrealistic, and untrue things about Princess Kate of Wales. It will be very difficult for William," he said.
Before Harry got engaged to Meghan, he was very close to Kate. "He was always at their apartment in Kensington Palace. I think William got a little tired of being so close to his wife, but the three of them couldn't be happier together," Cole explained.
While Harry is unlikely to see William when he returns to the UK, he will likely meet his father, King Charles, as he continues to receive treatment for cancer. However, royal insiders have claimed that the king may be too busy to speak to Harry.
