Everything changed between Prince Harry and Prince William when Meghan Markle came along. Meghan Markle's arrival transformed everything for Prince Harry and Prince William, who had been inseparable before the Duchess of Sussex entered the scene, a royal photographer has claimed. Arthur Edwards, who has photographed the royal family for 40 years, said the worst part about the Duke of Sussex's current relations with the Windsors is the rift between himself and William.
During an interview aired on the YouTube podcast "Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered," he claimed that King Charles was pained by not seeing two of his grandchildren.
Asked if the King could forgive Harry for some of the betrayals of the last few years, Mr. Edwards said, "I always believe in the parable of The Prodigal Son. Everything's possible. We all have to have forgiveness in our hearts. Of course, it could happen." He added that the split between Harry and William was the worst part, given how close the brothers were in the past. Mr. Edwards said, "They were inseparable. They would always joke about each other; they were fun. And then Meghan came along, and suddenly everything changed. Everything changed, I think, for the worse for our royal family because, although in the first year with Meghan it was great—she really did warm to the public; the public loved her—suddenly, after about 18 months, everything changed."
The relationship between the brothers has been strained over several claims Harry made against his brother and the wider royal family since he and Meghan Markle relocated to the US in 2020 after stepping down as senior working royals. The Sussexes made a series of claims against the royal family in their Netflix docu-series "Harry and Meghan" as well as in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. The Duke of Sussex also made further claims in his tell-all memoir "Spare."
Mr. Edwards continued, "I've seen the pain it's caused the King. He doesn't see the grandchildren. I feel sorry for Harry's children because they should be mixing with their cousins here; they should be playing up at Sandringham, at Balmoral. They should feel part of it, and they're not." The royal expert expressed regret at how things have turned out, saying he had loved working with Harry, who he said was "such fun." He recalled a visit to New Zealand where the photographer let slip that Harry had confided in a woman that he was going bald like his father. Mr. Edwards mentioned that detail in a TV interview, prompting Harry to get revenge on a visit to a youth club the next day. After he was invited to put a print of his painted hand on a wall, Harry turned around and planted his hand on Mr. Edwards' head. The photographer said, "He was pleasant. He was nice to talk to, and I really enjoyed his company." But he said Harry's life as a working royal has gone now, and quite rapidly, people in the UK now feel hostile towards Meghan. Mr. Edwards said, "It's sad, really. He was a great member of the royal family."
Thomas Markle is turning 80 next month, and with that milestone in mind, he is troubled. The Duchess of Sussex's dad and grandfather to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who it's believed he has never met, said that there will be one burning question that the royal couple, Prince Harry and his daughter, will face. Mr. Markle said, "They are getting to the age where they will start asking questions, as all kids do at some stage. It's inevitable that they will ask their parents why they have cut them off from both sides of the family. They have two grandpas who want to see them, one of whom is the King of England. I never in my 80 years thought I'd be in the same boat as the King," reports Mail Online.
The granddad also says that there is a unique bond between cousins that the young royals are missing out on as they don't see Prince William or Princess Kate's children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, or Prince Louis. He added that the decisions that his daughter Meghan and Harry have made will affect their kids for the rest of their lives.
