Meghan Markle Shares Why She Ditched Boxed Hair Dye After the Pandemic
Meghan Markle’s recent remarks about boxed hair dye have stirred controversy among royal fans, with some branding her comments as "tone deaf."
The Duchess of Sussex made the comment during the launch of *Highbrow Hippie*, a new luxury haircare line co-founded by her close friend and hair colorist, Kadi Lee.
On November 15, Meghan attended the brand’s launch event at Gjelina restaurant in Venice, California, showing her support for the female-founded business, in which she is also an investor.
While promoting the new line, Meghan casually mentioned that she stopped using boxed hair dye after the Covid pandemic—a remark that didn’t sit well with some fans.
Kadi Lee, co-founder of *Highbrow Hippie*, spoke about her friendship with Meghan and how it influenced the growth of her business. During the event, Lee jokingly said, “I was using boxed dye when I met her!”—a comment that drew laughter from the crowd.
Although Meghan’s comment was delivered with humor, it also spotlighted the stark difference between affordable boxed dyes and *Highbrow Hippie’s* premium offerings.
For example, the brand’s *Healthy Hair Duo* is priced at $206 (£163), while the *Essential Wellbeing Complex* costs $118 (£93), underscoring its position as a high-end luxury brand.
