Social media was filled with negative comments over headlines from various outlets over the first photos of the actor in two years.
Fans of Jack Nicholson took to social media to voice their disapproval after photos of the actor reclusively at his home in Beverley Hills were posted online.
The photos of Nicholson, who turns 86 this week (April 22), mark the first time he has been photographed since he and his son, Ray, were at a Los Angeles Lakers game in October 2021.
Published by the Daily Mail last week, the new images show Nicholson standing on his balcony in a loose orange T-shirt and navy blue pants. In one of the photos, he is rubbing the side of his face and his hair appears messy, leading fans to suggest he has just woken up.
The accompanying article describes Nicholson as “disheveled,” while a similar story published by Fox News claims he “looks unrecognizable.” Nicholson fans have since jumped to his defense on social media:
“1) He’s very recognizable. 2) Let people age in peace, damn it,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“He looks exactly like Jack Nicholson would look at 85,” another added.
Responding directly to the Fox News story, one reader said, “He looks like an 86-year-old Jack Nicholson whose privacy is being invaded. Let him be.”
“This is news? Jack Nicholson waking up? This is bullshit…”
Nicholson is rarely seen in public these days, and last appeared in a movie over a decade ago: the 2010 romantic comedy How Do You Know. In 2013, it was reported that the three-time Oscar winner had retired from acting due to no longer being able to remember his lines. This has not been confirmed by Nicholson or anyone on his team.
