Prince Harry and Meghan Markle See Public Opinion Shift
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have recently gained some significant support from commentators who believe they are not to blame for the controversies surrounding them.
Royal expert Christopher Andersen shared these views during a conversation with Fox News Digital. He quickly came to Meghan’s defense, criticizing those who have drawn comparisons between her decision to postpone her Netflix show and her infamous Oprah interview.
In Mr. Andersen’s eyes, those comparisons are “utter nonsense” and serve as another example of how the U.K. tabloid press tries to vilify the Sussexes. He emphasized, “There may be plenty of things to criticize about the Sussexes, but this isn't one of them.”
He further explained that attempting to equate the Oprah interview, which was released without the Sussexes’ control, to their decision to delay Meghan’s lifestyle show due to the fires in Los Angeles was “an egregiously false equivalence.”
Andersen also commented on the situation surrounding Prince Philip’s hospitalization during the interview, pointing out that “Prince Philip had been frequently hospitalized over the final years of his life. At 99 years old, going in and out of the hospital had become fairly routine.”
When discussing the release of Meghan's Netflix show, he noted that it would have been insensitive to release a show with lifestyle and cooking tips while their neighbors’ homes were burning to the ground. “It wouldn’t have gone over well, to say the least,” he said.
Ultimately, Mr. Andersen believes that postponing the series was the right decision, and “the only decision Meghan could make” in that moment.
