Prince Harry Delights Meghan Markle with His Sensible Move
Prince Harry, who was facing potential backlash over his unexpected decision in his legal case against UK publishers, has earned high praise from his wife, Meghan Markle, for his move to save millions.
A source close to the Sussexes shared, "Meghan is thrilled with Harry's big victory, which his legal team secured in the UK."
"She’ll definitely be celebrating his win, especially since he saved millions with his smart decision," the source added.
The source also shed light on why Harry made this surprising choice, revealing, "Harry wasn’t initially in favor of settling because he wanted justice, but the media group's apology ultimately changed his mind."
The Duke of Sussex achieved what he described as a "monumental victory" over News Group Newspapers (NGN).
Harry and the former Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, both represented by lawyer David Sherborne, released a joint statement. In it, they called the unequivocal apology from NGN a "vindication for the hundreds of other claimants who were strong-armed into settling, without ever getting to the truth of what was done to them."
Had the trial gone ahead, Prince Harry would have faced a bill worth millions, regardless of whether he won or lost.
In the UK, if a claimant rejects a settlement offer and is later awarded less in damages by a judge, they are required to pay both parties’ legal costs.
Royal expert Chris Ship shared on X (formerly Twitter), "The damages awarded by NGN to Prince Harry are between £10 and £20 million, according to a well-placed source."
He also added, "But for Harry, this wasn’t about the money. He wanted The Sun to admit to unlawful activity."
