Meghan Markle Stays Behind with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet as Prince Harry Heads to the UK
Prince Harry’s upcoming visit to the UK for his High Court trial has sparked fresh discussions surrounding his choices regarding accommodation and security arrangements.
The Duke of Sussex is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday to attend a case against News Group Newspapers. He will be traveling solo from California, as his wife, Meghan Markle, remains in the US with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
While Harry lost his legal battle last year to secure taxpayer-funded police protection during his visits to the UK, reports suggest he will still receive limited police protection during this trip.
However, his decision to decline an invitation to stay at Buckingham Palace, a location that offers a secure environment, has raised eyebrows.
Jennie Bond, a former BBC royal correspondent, expressed her concerns over the choice, describing it as “unwise.” In an interview with *The Mirror*, she commented, “It seems unreasonable to expect police protection around a hotel when he has turned down the offer of secure accommodation.”
She further noted that while Harry may feel dissatisfied with not receiving the full level of police protection he desires, the alternative arrangements he was offered were “perfectly suitable.”
This marks yet another solo journey for Harry, as Meghan has not made a return to the UK since attending the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022.
With no permanent UK residence following the relinquishment of Frogmore Cottage, Harry’s plans and decisions for this visit continue to draw public attention and scrutiny.
