King Charles Set to Embark on US Royal Tour Despite Trump's Feud with Prince Harry, Report Reveals
King Charles and Prince William are reportedly planning a Royal tour to the US in an effort to strengthen the UK's relationship with the country, despite Donald Trump’s past comments regarding Prince Harry.
A senior UK Government source shared with *The Times* that the monarch and the Prince of Wales will play a significant role in reinforcing the “special relationship” between the two nations. The source also emphasized that the tour would serve as a way for the UK to exert its soft power and enhance diplomatic relations with the US.
“Donald Trump has a clear affinity for the Royal Family,” the insider explained. “He had a great relationship with the late Queen, recently met with Prince William, and has spoken positively about King Charles.”
“A royal tour to the US would be an opportunity to reinforce that ‘special relationship,’” they added.
Another source confirmed to *The Times* that playing up to Trump’s pro-monarchist tendencies is one of several key ways the UK can exercise its soft power. "You saw this during his first administration, and you can expect to see it again," the source remarked.
This news comes after Trump made his stance clear on the ongoing situation involving Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s residence in the US. The Duke of Sussex is facing allegations that he may have lied about his past drug use while applying for his US visa, after admitting to drug use in his 2023 memoir, *Spare*.
Speaking on the matter, Trump told *The Express*, “I wouldn’t protect him. He betrayed the Queen. That’s unforgivable. He would be on his own if it was down to me.”
