Meghan Markle has recently been urged to reconsider her upcoming series, especially given the current events of January.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams weighed in on the situation, telling the *Daily Mail*, "Proceeding with the release now would be unwise, as the mood has definitely darkened." Fitzwilliams pointed out that the catastrophic fires in the U.S. are among the worst natural disasters the country has seen, which could affect the timing of the series’ debut.
"If the series goes ahead, it would make the Sussexes look completely out of touch," Fitzwilliams continued, referencing the planned release of *With Love, Meghan*. "It’s clear they had no way of knowing these disasters would occur, but they must act carefully to avoid terrible optics, especially with the release so close."
What makes matters even worse, according to Fitzwilliams, is the fact that just five days after the series is slated to air, Donald Trump’s presidential return will be making headlines. Fitzwilliams described Trump as one of the most controversial figures, with his political comeback marking a major moment in U.S. history.
“The mood among the Sussexes' supporters will be grim, and at this time, no one is likely to be in the mood for the type of content Meghan’s offering,” Fitzwilliams added, suggesting that Netflix should make the decision to delay the release.
He further argued that it’s a matter of "immediate action," with the obvious reasons to postpone the series. "This would also give Meghan the chance to issue a statement explaining why, which everyone would understand."
Fitzwilliams concluded by warning of the potential damage to their reputation in America, saying, “If they don’t make the move now, the optics could be truly disastrous.”
