Prince Harry's Ghostwriter Shares Shocking Details About the Duke
Mark McCrum, the ghostwriter for Prince Harry’s book *Walking with the Wounded*, has made some surprising revelations about his experience working with the Duke of Sussex.
McCrum, who wrote the foreword for the 2011 bestseller, has now opened up about his time working with Harry. In an interview, McCrum admitted that he doesn’t really know what Prince Harry is like and expressed uncertainty about whether the Duke ever actually read the content he helped create.
The book, *Walking with the Wounded*, tells the story of four injured soldiers on an expedition to the North Pole, with Prince Harry’s name prominently featured on the cover. Despite the close association with Harry, McCrum revealed he never met the Duke in person during the writing process.
He recalled, "When I ghostwrote for Prince Harry on *Walking with the Wounded*, I didn't meet him."
In an interview with *The Daily Mail*, McCrum described how Harry sent him a video from the expedition, where he could be seen trekking across the ice. "In the end, I was sent a video of him out on the ice, enthusing about the beauty of the landscape and the bravery of his companions," McCrum shared. "For 15 minutes, Harry trekked across the ice, grinning a lot in full polar kit. It was recorded just for me, but hardly illuminating. The word 'amazing' featured a lot, I remember."
The ghostwriter added that he worked with this footage to craft a chapter for the book, which then had to be approved by Clarence House. However, McCrum is unsure whether Harry ever read the final version of the chapter, saying, "Whether Harry read it himself, I have no idea."
In 2023, Prince Harry stirred global attention with his explosive memoir *Spare*, in which he made a series of shocking claims about his family. The book revealed allegations of a physical altercation between Harry and his brother Prince William, where he claimed William pushed him into a dog bowl. He also accused his father, King Charles III, of harboring envy toward William and Kate Middleton, and alleged that Meghan was denied the opportunity to join the royals in Scotland during the late Queen's final days.
