Prince Harry Faces Legal Showdown Over US Visa, Lawsuit Heads to Court Under Trump Presidency

Prince Harry’s ongoing U.S. visa lawsuit is making headlines once again, and this time, it’s unfolding in a new political climate under the watch of Donald Trump’s presidency. A federal judge has scheduled the first court hearing for February 5 in Washington, D.C., marking a significant step forward in the case that was revived by the conservative Heritage Foundation.

The legal battle stems from Harry’s past admissions of drug use in his memoir, *Spare*, which have raised questions about whether his U.S. visa should have been granted. The Heritage Foundation argues that Harry misled U.S. immigration authorities or received special treatment, and they are pushing for his immigration records to be made public.

However, government lawyers are fighting to keep those records private, citing concerns over Harry’s privacy rights.

The situation is further complicated by Trump’s past comments on Harry. In 2024, the former president said, “I wouldn’t protect him. He betrayed the Queen. That’s unforgivable.” With Trump’s critical stance toward Harry, the Duke of Sussex is facing a potentially unfavorable political environment as the case proceeds.

Heritage Foundation officials have even indicated they may press the president to intervene. Nile Gardiner, the director of their Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom, has stated, “I’ll be urging the president to release Prince Harry’s immigration records, and the president does have that legal authority to do that.”

With privacy, politics, and public scrutiny all coming into play, the February 5 court hearing is shaping up to be a high-stakes showdown. As the case moves forward under Trump’s administration, the outcome could have far-reaching implications for the Duke of Sussex’s future in the United States.
