Renee Zellweger Opens Up About Her Six-Year Break from Acting
Renée Zellweger, best known for her role in *Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy*, has finally shared the reason behind her six-year hiatus from acting, which lasted from 2010 to 2016.
In an interview for the February issue of *British Vogue*, the 55-year-old actress revealed the personal and professional motivations behind stepping away from the spotlight.
“Because I needed to,” Zellweger admitted. “I was sick of the sound of my own voice. When I was working, I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, listen to you. Are you sad again, Renée? Oh, is this your mad voice?’ It was a regurgitation of the same emotional experiences.”
During her time away from Hollywood, Zellweger explored other passions and focused on personal growth. She revealed that she spent her break "writing music and studying international law." Additionally, she embraced her creative side by building a house, rescuing two senior dogs, and founding a production company through a new partnership. Beyond her creative endeavors, she also dedicated herself to advocacy and fundraising efforts for a sick friend, as well as spending meaningful time with family, godchildren, and traveling across the country with her dogs.
“I got healthy,” she said, reflecting on the changes the break brought into her life.
When asked if she would choose acting again if given the chance to relive her life, Zellweger gave a thought-provoking response: “I’m not sure that the way that it works now, celebrity and all of that stuff, I don’t know that that suits me.”
The break not only allowed Zellweger to reset her perspective but also offered her an opportunity to reconnect with the things that truly mattered to her, stepping away from the pressures of fame and Hollywood life.
