On Thursday, Princess Eugenie was spotted arriving at Buckingham Palace for the royal family’s pre-Christmas lunch, looking effortlessly chic and radiant. Sitting in the passenger seat of a car, the mother of two wore a stunning black trench coat and styled her hair in a relaxed updo.
But what truly caught the eye of royal watchers were her earrings. Princess Eugenie accessorized her look with the Fallen Star Hoop Earrings by Sophie Lee, priced at £460. These elegant earrings feature a floating star charm in the shape of the North Star, symbolizing guidance and direction. According to the brand’s website, the design also represents good luck, health, faith, success, and protection from evil.
The earrings, crafted in 22-carat gold vermeil and adorned with white diamonds, are not only visually stunning but also meaningful keepsakes. Interestingly, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, owns the exact same pair. Meghan notably wore them during her final public engagement as a working royal in 2020. She paired the earrings with a chic ensemble when she met Commonwealth Scholars at Buckingham Palace before the Commonwealth Day service that year.
Given Eugenie’s close bond with Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, it’s possible that the princess borrowed the dazzling earrings. Eugenie and Harry share a strong familial connection, which has extended to include Meghan as well.
Each year, the royal family gathers for Christmas at Sandringham, a cherished tradition established by the late Queen Elizabeth II and continued by King Charles III. However, this year marked the first time King Charles hosted the pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace.
Among the attendees were the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor, and Lady Gabriella Kingston. However, the Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their children—Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6—were notably absent.
It is understood that Prince William and Princess Kate had already traveled to Norfolk to prepare for their annual family celebrations at Sandringham. The Wales family traditionally heads to Norfolk shortly after the royal children break for the holidays.
This year, the children finished school just after Princess Kate’s annual Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey, which took place on December 6. As usual, the family is looking forward to spending quality time together over the festive season.
