Prince Harry & Meghan Honored for ‘Righting the Wrongs’ in Indigenous Visit

Harry and Meghan Honored for Supporting Indigenous Communities in Canada

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently made a heartfelt visit to the Squamish Nation in British Columbia, Canada, where they connected with Indigenous families and took part in cultural traditions. Their visit was praised as a meaningful step toward reconciliation.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, 40 and 43, participated in sacred ceremonies at the Squamish "language nest," a space dedicated to preserving and revitalizing the Indigenous language for future generations. Their presence was warmly welcomed, with Squamish spokesperson Wilson Williams highlighting their efforts in helping to "right the wrongs of the past."

One touching moment saw Prince Harry joyfully clapping along to traditional Indigenous songs while cradling a baby, while Meghan, smiling brightly, held a young child in her arms. The couple, who are parents to Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, also spent time with families raising their children as fluent Squamish speakers.

As a token of appreciation, the Squamish Nation presented Harry and Meghan with a language dictionary, a historical book on their heritage, and a children's book written in the Indigenous language for their children.

Meghan later took to social media to express her gratitude, writing, "Thank you for welcoming us onto your sacred land."

The couple’s visit to the Squamish Nation followed their participation in the *Invictus Games* events in Vancouver. During the event, Prince Harry playfully hinted that their family is complete, joking, "One or two kids is probably enough."

After their time in Vancouver, the Sussexes traveled to Whistler, where they attended the winter sports segment of the Games, which introduced adaptive winter sports for the first time.

Harry and Meghan’s visit to Canada showcased their ongoing commitment to cultural understanding, reconciliation, and community engagement, leaving a lasting impact on the people they met.
