Kate Middleton’s Struggle for Relevance as King Charles Makes Major Move for Favorite Grandson

Kate Middleton’s Struggle for Relevance as King Charles Makes Major Move for Favorite Grandson

This year marks a series of significant milestones for the Wales children—Prince George turns 12, Princess Charlotte reaches double digits, and Prince Louis celebrates his seventh birthday. For George, this means graduating from Lambrook, his primary school near the family’s home at Adelaide Cottage in Berkshire, and moving on to senior school. While his next school has yet to be officially announced, speculation is rife about where he might enroll.

Eton College, the prestigious institution attended by both Prince William and Prince Harry, is a strong contender, especially given its proximity to Windsor. However, another possibility is Marlborough College in Wiltshire, where Princess Catherine was a student. While Eton is an all-boys school, Marlborough is co-educational, which would allow Charlotte and Louis to follow in George’s footsteps when the time comes.

Royal watchers have already spotted George touring Eton with his parents, suggesting it may be high on their list. However, Catherine’s fond memories of Marlborough might influence the decision, as she reportedly wants her children to have a similarly positive school experience. According to royal author Robert Jobson, King Charles also plays a significant role in shaping George’s future, preparing him for his eventual role as king. Jobson noted that George’s participation as a page at the coronation was a key moment in his royal journey, drawing parallels to the guidance Queen Elizabeth II provided to William.

Princess Catherine is deeply aware of the importance of Prince George’s role as heir to the throne and the need for him to maintain strong international relations. With George, Charlotte, and Louis likely to take on full-time royal duties in the future, their parents are keen for them to become confident linguists.

By the time Charlotte started nursery in 2018, she was already able to count in Spanish, a skill she shared with George, thanks to their Spanish nanny, Maria Teresa Turrión Borrallo. Catherine herself picked up some Spanish during her gap year in Chile, further emphasizing the family's appreciation for multilingualism. Additionally, the Wales children are reportedly learning conversational Welsh, aided by language-learning apps like Duolingo. A royal source revealed that Prince William, who has been improving his own Welsh skills, felt it was important for his children to embrace the language of Wales.

While Prince George’s upbringing is undeniably unique—having met former U.S. President Barack Obama as a toddler—his parents are committed to giving him and his siblings as normal a childhood as possible. Marlborough College, known for producing accomplished individuals across various fields, could offer George the well-rounded and enriching education his parents seek while preparing him for his royal responsibilities.

A recent letter from Kensington Palace provided rare insight into Prince George’s personal interests outside of school. Students from Northmead Junior School in Guildford received a response from the Palace after writing to the young prince. The letter, penned by the head of royal correspondence on behalf of William and Catherine, expressed gratitude for their kind message and revealed some of George’s favorite activities.

According to the response, Prince George enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and participating in a variety of sports, including football, tennis, and horse riding. His active lifestyle aligns with his parents’ dedication to fostering a love for nature and sports in their children.

As the next generation of the British monarchy takes shape, it is clear that Prince George, along with his siblings, is being nurtured with a strong sense of tradition, responsibility, and a well-rounded education to prepare him for the future.
