Meghan Markle’s Emmy Controversy: Did Netflix Spend Millions to Win?

Rumors are swirling that Meghan Markle is convinced her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, will earn her the Emmy award she has long desired. But given her track record with award snubs, one has to wonder—when will she learn?

This claim originates from a blind item published by Crazy Days and Nights, which states:

"Speaking of Emmy thirst, you should see the budget the illiterate one wants for her Emmy run. Yes, she is serious. Yes, she thinks she’s going to win. Who is going to tell her?"

If the speculation is true, it suggests that Meghan is pouring significant resources into an Emmy campaign, despite past failures. This comes after her and Prince Harry’s previous Netflix projects failed to secure nominations, even when there was considerable hype around them.

A couple of years ago, the Sussexes released Harry & Meghan, their highly publicized documentary series. Many believed it would at least garner an Emmy nomination. However, as reported by Deadline, it was ultimately snubbed by Emmy voters.

"Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix docuseries was under consideration for Outstanding Documentary or Non-Fiction Series, but it did not receive a nomination."

Following that, their Heart of Invictus documentary also failed to make an impact. Meanwhile, David and Victoria Beckham’s Beckham series managed to secure five Emmy nominations in the same year. The stark contrast must have been a bitter pill to swallow for the Sussexes.

Meghan & Harry Allegedly Furious Over Award Snubs

Reports suggest that the couple was devastated by their Emmy snubs. According to Heat Magazine, they even went on a mission to uncover who in Hollywood was allegedly sabotaging them.

"The fact that they didn’t get an Emmy nod is a huge kick in the teeth. They’re convinced there’s an orchestrated hate campaign against them on both sides of the Atlantic. They believe certain people are picking on them to score points with the British royals."

The source added that Meghan and Harry demanded full transparency on who voted against them and what they need to do to "catch a break."

Why Meghan Won't Win an Emmy

If Meghan Markle genuinely believes With Love, Meghan will succeed where her previous projects have failed, she may be deluding herself. The issue isn’t just the quality of her content—it’s the public perception of her and Harry.

To rebuild their credibility, they might consider:

Stop Attacking the Royal Family – Their repeated criticism of the monarchy has alienated many people.

Reconnecting With the British Public – They have burned bridges with both the royal institution and many British citizens.

Avoiding Controversy – Their narrative of victimhood and claims of bias have worn thin.

The British royal family, whether one supports them or not, is deeply embedded in the UK’s cultural identity. Attacking them equates to attacking a core aspect of British tradition, and Harry, more than anyone, should understand that.

Over the years, the Sussexes have released several Netflix projects, including Harry & Meghan, Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus, and now With Love, Meghan. None have secured an Emmy nomination, and With Love, Meghan has performed worse than their original Harry & Meghan docuseries.

Yet, according to the blind item, Meghan is allegedly asking Netflix for millions of dollars to fund an Emmy campaign. If that’s true, she might be more out of touch than anyone realized.

Netflix has already invested over $100 million in the Sussexes, and the returns have been questionable. If she is indeed returning to them with another massive budget request, executives may hesitate to grant her demands—especially when past efforts have yielded no Emmy recognition.

If Meghan Markle truly believes With Love, Meghan will be the breakthrough project that lands her an Emmy, history suggests otherwise. Given that her highest-performing Netflix series didn’t even receive a nomination, expecting a different outcome now seems unrealistic.
