Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s newly renewed Netflix deal is making headlines — but one royal expert says it’s not the big win some might think.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Fox News Digital that the updated agreement shows the Sussexes are no longer treated like top-tier “A-listers.” He noted that, while their brand still attracts attention, they’ve “taken a bad hit,” especially compared to their original deal.
Fitzwilliams pointed out there’s no sign of Netflix offering anything close to the massive $100 million sum reported for their first contract. Instead, this “first-look” arrangement is likely worth significantly less.
Despite this, Netflix is still partnering with Meghan’s lifestyle brand As Ever, which he believes could turn out to be the most profitable part of the new deal.
The commentator didn’t shy away from criticism, saying, “If you don’t do much, you don’t deserve much,” and mentioning that fans have been waiting for ages to see progress on the couple’s planned adaptation of Meet Me at the Lake.
Even sources speaking to the New York Post confirmed the deal’s smaller scale, suggesting Netflix’s faith — and budget — for the couple has been reduced.
