Piers Morgan Pokes Fun at Harry and Meghan’s New Netflix Deal
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just signed a new contract with Netflix — but of course, Piers Morgan had something to say about it.
The agreement, announced on August 11, is what’s called a “first refusal” or “first look” deal. That means Netflix gets first dibs on any show ideas the couple comes up with before other streaming services can even consider them.
Piers, never one to hold back, reposted a joke from the comedy show Have I Got News For You on X (formerly Twitter):
“Netflix have signed a new deal that gives them ‘first refusal’ on Harry and Meghan’s show ideas, frustrating rival streamers who wanted to have the rights to say no first.”
Basically, it’s a cheeky way of saying other companies might not have wanted their ideas anyway.
Still, Harry and Meghan seem thrilled. Sky News reports they’re “absolutely over the moon” about the deal — even though it’s apparently worth less than their original Netflix contract. Meghan said in a statement they’re “proud” and “inspired” to keep working with the streaming giant.
