Prince Harry and Prince William reportedly experienced tension during Easter 2018, a moment Harry later reflected on in his memoir.
According to Spare, the Duke of Sussex shared that his older brother, Prince William, was displeased because Harry and Meghan hadn’t given Easter gifts to William and Kate Middleton—something Harry didn’t realize was expected.
Recalling the incident, Harry wrote: “Willy and Kate were apparently upset that we hadn’t given them Easter presents,” noting his surprise at the idea. He explained that exchanging gifts at Easter had never been a tradition between the brothers. “Easter presents? Was that really a thing? Willy and I had never done that,” he added, pointing out that although King Charles often made Easter meaningful, he had never treated gift-giving as a requirement. Harry said they apologized once they understood the couple felt overlooked.
Harry eventually stepped back from royal duties in 2020, relocating to California with Meghan Markle and their son, Prince Archie. The couple later made public claims about discriminatory treatment within the Royal Family. They have since built a new life in the United States, where their daughter, Princess Lilibet, was born.
