Inside the Storm: How Prince Harry’s Old Messages Triggered Meghan Markle’s Latest Backlash

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly working through new strains in their marriage after a set of Harry’s old “flirty” text messages resurfaced online.

The messages—sent between 2011 and 2012, long before Harry and Meghan met—show the Duke playfully chatting with a journalist, using light-hearted nicknames and even joking about “movie snuggles.”

According to one insider, tensions have been building for months. “The truth is, they’ve been butting heads over almost everything lately. It’s not one major problem—it’s a combination of many smaller issues piling up. They’re both strong-willed, and with their very different backgrounds, they naturally view things in completely different ways, which can easily create friction.”

Although the messages predate their relationship, sources say Meghan didn’t react well, leading to several uncomfortable but necessary conversations between the couple.

Even so, Harry and Meghan are said to be fully committed to strengthening their marriage. “They’re focused on working through their issues together,” the source explained.

The insider added that the couple is determined not to ignore tension or push problems aside, especially with their demanding schedules. “They know that avoiding issues won’t help them grow. If their differences intensify, it could make their relationship harder to repair—and they absolutely don’t want to go down the path of divorce. They both understand that a healthy marriage requires effort, compromise, and open communication.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex—married since 2018 and parents to two children—have already navigated several major life changes, including their decision to step back from royal duties in 2020.
