Prince William and Kate Middleton are shaping a more modern vision of the monarchy.
As they prepare for their future roles, the couple is focusing on critical societal issues.
Former royal press secretary Simon Case shared insights with author Russell Myers in his book William and Catherine: The Monarchy's New Era: The Inside Story.
Case explained, “If you examine the foundation of their work—issues like environmental conservation, mental health, early childhood development, addiction, and homelessness—they are all aimed at addressing society’s most essential needs to help it thrive.”
He added, “Combined with their commitment to their own family and understanding how it influences the wider institution, these principles reflect who they truly are as individuals.”
Case also emphasized to Myers, “People often misunderstand them if they think family is simply a given. For William and Catherine, close family relationships require effort and dedication—the same dedication they apply to their public initiatives.”
The former private secretary continued, “The times have changed, and the influence of the Royal Family, alongside their personal profiles, is extraordinary in the digital era. By focusing on particular causes, it’s clear they are serious; they engage with issues because they genuinely care and want to make a meaningful impact.”
