Kate Middleton has opened up about some of the challenges she faces while carrying out royal public engagements, offering a candid glimpse into her experiences behind the formal appearances.
During one of her recent conversations, the Princess of Wales admitted that she is often encouraged to raise her voice when speaking in public. She explained that her naturally soft-spoken tone can sometimes make large or busy environments more difficult to manage. Reflecting on this, she shared that she frequently hears comments such as “Speak up a bit louder,” especially when engaging with crowds.
Kate also previously touched on this in the 2016 ITV documentary Our Queen at Ninety, where she spoke honestly about the learning curve involved in royal walkabouts. She mentioned that she is often teased within the royal family for spending extra time chatting with people. Acknowledging her ongoing journey, she said she still considers herself in the process of learning and improving her approach to public engagements.
Meanwhile, body language expert Judi James offered her interpretation of Kate’s presence during such occasions, describing her as an attentive and engaged hostess. She also noted that Kate’s choice of outfit, including a lilac dress with vintage-inspired detailing and layered pearls, appeared to subtly honor the late Queen’s classic style on what would have marked her 100th birthday.
