They suggested that public criticism is often followed by adjustments or explanations, including claims of charitable intent. The insider remarked that while monetising public influence is not unusual, combining fundraising-style appearances with the promotion of purchasable outfits during official engagements has raised eyebrows, with some feeling it sends mixed messages.
Another commentator, described as a close associate, went further, suggesting that while personal branding is expected, turning a visit that includes a children’s hospital appearance into an opportunity to promote and sell fashion items online has, in their view, “crossed a line.”
During their return visit to Australia—their first since 2018—Harry and Meghan spent time in Melbourne engaging with various community groups and organisations focused on healthcare, recovery, and social support.
