This approach is said to reflect his desire for a more streamlined and reputation-conscious royal institution.
Lownie also highlighted the influence of the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, describing her as a strong and perceptive figure behind her composed public image. He suggested that, much like the late Queen Mother, Kate possesses a firm understanding of royal responsibilities and the internal workings of the monarchy.
The expert further explained that individuals outside the royal birthline sometimes develop a clearer perspective on how the institution operates, and in his view, Kate is one of those people who understands the system deeply and practically.
He added that Kate plays a key advisory role for Prince William, particularly when it comes to recognizing potential reputational risks. According to Lownie, William is more decisive and firm than both his father, King Charles, and other senior royals, and together the couple is considered highly effective at assessing public perception and internal dynamics.
These comments come amid reports that King Charles is working on a long-term strategy aimed at repairing strained family relationships. It is believed that he hopes to reconnect with his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who currently live in the United States.
