According to multiple reports, the Australian government has removed public funding previously allocated to Invictus Australia, which delivers sports-based rehabilitation and wellbeing programs for serving and former military personnel. The decision comes as part of the country’s latest federal budget changes.
Invictus Australia plays a key role in helping veterans transition into civilian life by connecting them with sporting communities designed to support physical recovery, mental health, and social reintegration.
The development follows a previous allocation of approximately $9 million over three years, which had been set aside in the 2022–23 budget. However, that funding was not renewed in the 2026–27 federal budget announced by Treasurer Jim Chalmers.
The timing of the decision is notable, coming just weeks after Prince Harry’s visit to Sydney, where he engaged with members of Team Australia alongside Meghan Markle.
