Prince William is reportedly adopting a tougher and more decisive approach toward certain members of the Royal Family, with his stance becoming a growing point of discussion among royal observers.
According to commentary circulating in royal circles, some believe King Charles has taken a more lenient position toward the disgraced royal linked in past associations to a convicted sex offender. This perception has fueled ongoing debate about how firmly the issue should be handled within the monarchy.
Royal biographer Andrew Lownie, author of Entitled, a book often credited with intensifying scrutiny of Prince Andrew, has also weighed in on the situation. Speaking to New Idea, he suggested that William is increasingly influential in shaping decisions as the monarchy moves through what many see as a transitional period.
This shift is occurring against the backdrop of King Charles’ ongoing cancer treatment, which has naturally led to greater public reflection on the future of the Crown and the responsibilities that will eventually pass to his heir.
Lownie added that William is believed to have both personal and institutional concerns regarding Prince Andrew. On a personal level, he is said to remember early tensions, including reports of Andrew’s allegedly dismissive behavior toward Catherine when she first joined the Royal Family.
Beyond personal feelings, however, there is also a broader institutional concern. William is reportedly aware of the reputational strain such controversies place on the monarchy as a whole. Because of this, some royal commentators suggest he would prefer that these matters be resolved and “cleared up” before he eventually becomes king.
