Piers Morgan has strongly criticised Prince Harry and Meghan Markle,
accusing them of clear double standards when it comes to privacy.
The outspoken broadcaster claims the Duke and Duchess of Sussex love
preaching about protecting children's privacy and the dangers of social
media, yet they regularly share photos of their young children, Prince
Archie and Princess Lilibet, online.
During a recent interview with Woman & Home, Morgan, who has been one of
the couple’s fiercest critics for years, expressed his frustration. He
questioned why the Sussexes continue posting recognisable pictures of their
five-year-old son for the whole world to see, while constantly warning
others about online risks.
“My old friends the Duke and Duchess of Sussex keep lecturing everyone about
privacy and how careful we need to be online, especially with kids. But then
they go and upload photos of their five-year-old to social media where
billions of people can see them,” Morgan said.
The 60-year-old said he simply cannot understand this contradiction. “What
are you doing? Why preach about privacy and then put your own child out
there for millions to see?” he asked.
He described the situation as a perfect example of double standards. “If
you’re going to preach something, at least try to follow it yourself. Don’t
do the exact opposite of what you’ve been telling everyone else,” Morgan
added.
These comments come as preparations build for the 2027 Invictus Games.
Reports suggest Harry and Meghan may bring Archie and Lilibet to the UK for
the first time in years as part of the events.
On his show The Royals Uncensored, Morgan went even further, questioning
whether the public can really trust the couple. “How do you trust these two?
They constantly talk about protecting their kids’ privacy, yet Meghan keeps
posting more and more pictures of them week after week.”
He didn’t hold back, calling it “absolute hypocrisy” that he finds “frankly
quite sickening.”
Morgan’s criticism of the Sussexes is nothing new. He has been vocal since
before they stepped down as senior royals in 2020. Back in 2019, he had
already labelled them “rank hypocrites” for using private jets while
campaigning heavily on environmental issues.
Reflecting on his own long career in the media, Morgan believes public
figures complain too much about scrutiny. He quoted Mick Jagger’s famous
line: “Never complain, never explain.”
He also noted that digital platforms like YouTube are now dominating
traditional television, which he says is clear from the growing success of
his own show, Piers Morgan Uncensored.
