Why doesn't anyone believe Amber Heard?
The actress has withdrawn her request for temporary support so that public opinion does not think that she is only interested in Johnny Depp's money
Since the complaint of mistreatment that Amber Heard has filed in a Los Angeles court was made public, a strange feeling has taken hold of public opinion, perhaps because the first impulse is to intuitively support the plaintiff, but there is something in the story told by the actress who does not quite fit or there may be something in us –the public opinion- that prevents us from believing Amber and that pushes us to blame her in some way. What is happening then? Does it really have to do with the fact that the story is somewhat implausible or that society continues to have a problem when it comes to processing cases of abuse?
The fact is that the young actress has made an important decision so that the press and the public stop thinking that she is only interested in the actor's money; And it is that Amber has withdrawn her request for temporary support until she rescinds the restraining order that she has filed against the actor. In the papers presented by her lawyers, Johnny Depp's ex claims that she asked for such support because she thought it was the norm in this type of procedure, but that it has been used by the media to distract attention from what is truly important, the alleged mistreatment. However, Amber does not rule out taking up this topic later in the divorce process.
The turning point in this entire story came when Vanessa Paradis, Johnny's ex-wife and mother of his two children, publicly supported the actor and stated that during their marriage he was never aggressive with her. A crusade to support Depp that soon had new followers, such as Terry Gilliam - who also questioned Amber's acting skills - Lily Rose Depp, Johnny's entire family - whose secret spokesperson declared that they never put up with the actress - and Benicio del Toro. The Puerto Rican actor, who shared a set with Johnny in the iconic Fear and Asco in Las Vegas, has been categorical in discrediting Amber.
"What I know is that there are enough problems that come from that girl and everything sounds a bit manipulated," Benicio has commented in the pages of the New York Daily News. "It sounds as if she was somewhat twisted, but I do not know what it is for sure ”.
If to this group of acolytes of the actor we add that strange interest of the tabloid press consisting of reversing the roles and making the defendant the aggressor, it is perfectly understood why public opinion has not even granted the benefit of the doubt to the young actress, whose photos in which she appears with a bruised face have even been questioned - regardless of whether or not the injuries were caused by Depp.
Even the statements of Amber's ex, the photographer Tasya Van Ree, in which she has tried to defend the actress have been used against her. Tasya and Amber were involved in a devastating incident in 2009, after which Heard was charged with domestic violence, although the charges were later dropped. As a result of the media campaign against Amber, Tasya has come out in her defense stating that "the incident" was a misunderstanding and a very clear case of homophobia, as the agents acted in a strange way when they learned that they were a couple, and not friends.
Be that as it may, Amber doesn't have much support right now and her accusations about the mistreatment that Johnny apparently subjected her to have been discredited in every possible way. It is true that Depp deserves the benefit of the doubt and that until the judge passes sentence, it is not to be assumed that she is an abuser; But Heard deserves exactly the same treatment and even better, basically because he has filed an abuse lawsuit with "evidence in between."
