Donald Trump resists, but Melania already packs her bags. "He just wants to go home"
Behind the public statements, the allegations of fraud and the desire not to grant surrender, Donald Trump is privately preparing to leave the White House in just over a month. And Melania started packing. Unlike the outgoing president, however, she doesn't seem to mind the move from 1600 to Pennsylvania Avenue. "She just wants to go home," reveals a source to CNN. A few days after the election results, the first lady discreetly instructed a councilor to find out if there were funds available for her from next January 20.

Melania will have a mini-pension
But if the former Commanders-in-Chief can count on a budget for their personal office and some travel expenses once their term is over, the wives only have a $ 20,000-a-month pension in the event of their husband's death. Having acknowledged that she will have to rely only on the family assets, Melania is supervising the inventory of works of art, furniture and personal items that will be moved to their homes. In particular, she must decide the pieces that will go into storage, those that will be shipped to the penthouse at Trump Tower in New York and those to be sent to Mar-a-Lago, the resort in Palm Beach, Florida, which will become the their main residence. Meanwhile, interior decorator Tham Kannalikham, hired by Trump in 2017 to redesign the White House's personal quarters, has been focusing on the Florida property in recent weeks, according to an informed source.
Melania and the Barron Problem
Also because the area reserved for The Donald and family in the Palm Beach club is considerably smaller than the multi-story maxi-apartment in Manhattan. Not to mention the steady stream of club members who will practically walk past the former president's front door every time they move from the pool to the dining room or from the spa to the patio. And then there is to organize the transfer of Barron, the 14-year-old son of the outgoing first couple, who will finish the school year in Florida and not in the Maryland institute she attended for the last 3 years. But it's not just the move that keeps Melania busy, who is also very focused on her legacy as first lady. Like the first women who preceded her, she is considering the idea of a book, although it probably won't be a memoir like Michelle Obama's, 'Becoming', and Laura Bush's, 'Spoken from the Heart. ', which became two bestsellers. Melania Trump - according to informed sources - is thinking instead of an illustrated book of photographs focusing on the history of hospitality at the White House, or on the design projects she completed while she was first lady. And what do you think about the possibility of Trump returning to the White House in 2024? The sources agree: "she would not be happy at all."
