Selena Gomez accuses her ex Justin Bieber of emotional abuse: "I was a victim"
The singer has made these explosive statements during an interview in which she has analyzed the courtship of years that both maintained.
Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber formed for a time one of those pairs of teenage superstars capable of taking the fanaticism of their followers to unsuspected levels. The two artists 'fans' obsession with their intermittent romantic relationship between 2011 and 2018 was unshakable, and it finds a perfect (and sad) example in the many attacks that Bieber's now-wife, Hailey Baldwin, received. when he broke up with Gómez and began a new sentimental chapter.
However, and despite the fact that many still dream of a reconciliation (quite unlikely on the other hand), between the two pop stars, it seems that their courtship was not as beautiful as it was implied. Or at least this is what Selena Gómez has revealed, completely unexpectedly, in an interview she gave yesterday to the NPR medium and in which she ended up declaring herself a "victim" of certain "emotional abuse" by her ex-boyfriend.
The revelation came when the interpreter reflected on her latest single, released last October after three years of musical silence, 'Lose you to love me'. Gómez already recognized then that the theme was inspired by her own personal history, and although it was not explicitly mentioned, the lyrics seemed to be loaded with poison darts at Bieber. And yesterday the singer confirmed that, indeed, the song spoke of her irregular romance with the Canadian.
"I am very proud of her," said Gomez, before adding the following: "I think I did not have a respectful closure and I had accepted that, but I know I needed some way to say some things that I wish I had said." The artist then assured that she had the feeling of having been "a victim of certain abuses" during her relationship. Asked then if she was referring to "emotional abuse", Gomez's answer was affirmative. "Yeah, and I think it's something that ... I have to find a way to understand it as an adult."
In addition, the interpreter also stated that although she does not want to throw her off for the rest of her life talking about it, she feels "proud" to be able to say that she is "stronger than ever". "I have found a way to go through all this with the greatest possible dignity," added the singer, who also admitted that that stage was very difficult for her and that she was glad that it was over.
However, Gómez also claims that the aforementioned song is not "a hate song." In fact, despite everything, the young woman does not seem to have any regrets about her romance with Bieber: "I had something nice and I would never deny that it wasn't." Now we will have to see how the fans take all these words that will surely cause a huge surprise.
