The real reason Angelina Jolie hasn't returned to directing movies
The artist confessed what led her to put aside her prominent career behind the scenes.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly Angelina Jolie was sincere and said that the family difficulties that she has faced in recent years have prevented her from taking on more projects as a director.
"I love directing, but I had a change in my family's situation that did not allow me to do it for some years," said the director of films such as Unbroken (2014), First They Killed My Father (2017), which was the last that directed and By the sea (2015), in which he also acted alongside Brad Pitt, and which he thought could help save their relationship.
Do not forget that the 45-year-old actress continues in the divorce process to legally end her marriage to Pitt, with whom she was a couple between 2005 and 2014.
As she explained, the Hollywood star hasn't had the time to commit to her dream of directing hers. For this reason, she has chosen to follow her career in front of the cameras, which she believes gives her more time to take care of her six children, Maddox, 19; Pax, 17; Zahara, 16; Shiloh, 14, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 12. “I needed to do shorter jobs and stay home longer, so I went back to doing some acting projects. That's really the truth, ”she said.
The situation between Jolie and her ex-husband has not been easy. In the legal dispute, the legal custody of her children is involved. Just over a month ago, allegations she made about Pitt's alleged abusive behavior while they were together were leaked to the press.
After that, a person close to Brad Pitt told Page Six that he was "heartbroken that Angelina has gone down that road." He assures that the two have much to heal from what happened in their marriage. This apparently also says it as a result of the fact that her eldest son, Maddox, was thinking of removing her last name from him, which would undoubtedly be a serious blow to the actor.
Jolie is currently promoting the action thriller Those Who Wish Me Dead, in which she plays Hannah, a firefighter who is still recovering from the loss of three lives that she could not save from a fire, when she meets a child from 12 year old who desperately needs your help.
Although she is not directing in this movie, Jolie has accomplished a lot by being in the director's chair at other times. According to her, that experience made her, recognized for being the woman with the full lips and blue eyes, assume her roles in a different way. "In very technical terms, I am more aware of the director's needs, the other challenges he faces, and how many different pieces are moving."
This film, directed by Taylor Sheridan, once again shows the actress as an action hero. But it is not the only one in which her name will appear this year, as she will also premiere Eternals, which is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
