Reading Prince William and Kate Middleton's Relationship from Body Language

The much-favorite British royal couple, Kate Middleton and Prince William, met each other while they were both students in 2001.

They then started dating two years later and married in 2011. Now, they have three children, namely Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Of course, many want to know what the relationship between the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is like. Moreover, we all know, if the two rarely show affection in public, to maintain their professional standards.

Although there are no rules regarding this, the two usually just hug or hold hands. Looking at photos of Kate and William's time as royalty, body language expert Judi James provides insight into the couple's relationship.

"Often mediocre and devoid of any soap opera drama cue from the rest of the royal couple, the body language of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge tends to be flawless to the point of bland," he said.

This 'gentleness' was probably intentional, Judi said. This may be due to William's background growing up amidst the painful public tragedy of his parents' marriage. So he decided to show his perfect face to the public.

It's incredible that in all the years since their marriage, Judi says, we've never seen more than the slightest glimpse of the odd sign that lurks behind their smiles.

However, body language experts point out that their relationship is very intimate. In recent years, William has been seen putting his hand on Kate's shoulder in public and the pair have often been photographed laughing and having fun together.

"Kate and William's love relationship tends to be defined by their intense and often subliminal reflecting signals. Their postural echoes and gestures are usually signs of the same thought," he explains.

It was also seen that when the couple sat next to each other, they would regularly sit the same way, with their hands on their laps. Body language experts explain how this can also be seen in other royal couples.

"Camilla will often be seen imitating Charles's actions, but by copying them after he does, she shows respect and is constantly subservient to her husband's higher status. While William and Kate tend to mirror one at the same time without consciously copying, showing personality similar and a strong 'team of two' vibe," said Judi again.

Judi also said that their bodily signals indicate that they will bring something unique to the kingdom when they become Kings and Queens of England in the future.

"Kate and William use a harmonious smile ritual when their smiles are aimed at each other rather than the public. While their public smiles are perfect, they don't have the kind of muscle tension or muscle tugging that suggests an inauthentic smile," he explains.

"There are no fake smiles, they can be really genuine. They both do have the talent to have a smile that is not stiff," he concluded.
