The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have sparked a controversy with the US press as they insist on obtaining the footage of an alleged car chase in New York. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are once again in the spotlight as they assert that their lives were jeopardized by paparazzi photographers during the car chase.
This incident occurred just a few days before their wedding anniversary. An article published in The Telegraph on Friday, coinciding with the couple's fifth wedding anniversary, suggests that after five years of marriage, they seem to be growing apart.
Titled "The Sussexes are frazzled, fraught and lacking romance – like any couple with young kids," the article by British journalist Camilla Tominey highlights how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have defied expectations and managed to maintain their marriage. The household staff reportedly had doubts about the longevity of their relationship at the time of their wedding, with some predicting it wouldn't last more than three years. However, as they celebrate their "wood" anniversary, Harry and Meghan have proven their critics wrong.
"The omens are bad as Harry and Meghan seem to be heading in different directions" writes the journalist. "Such is their independence from each other that the owner of a leading hotel chain in Montecito recently revealed to The Telegraph that they have a room set aside for Harry where he occasionally stays on his own."
The article was published two days after the couple found themselves involved in what they described as a harrowing car chase in New York. According to Harry's spokesperson, he, along with his wife Meghan and mother-in-law Doria Ragland, was caught up in the incident. The spokesperson explained that they were engaged in a "near catastrophic" car chase with press photographers following their attendance at an awards ceremony in New York.
The incident involved "a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi" in several cars with tinted windows, driving recklessly and endangering the lives of the couple and Doria Ragland, the spokesperson revealed.
