The Duke of Sussex asserted that the press actively sought to sabotage his relationship with Meghan Markle.
In his written statement, the 38-year-old prince conveyed his perception that certain publications would deliberately create "strain" in his relationships, fostering a sense of distrust between him and his partners.
According to Harry, it seemed as though the tabloids desired him to remain single, as he believed it made him a more captivating subject, resulting in increased newspaper sales.
While the media would occasionally cover his accomplishments, the prince expressed his belief that they derived greater satisfaction from tearing him down repeatedly. He cited an example involving his former girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, alleging that journalists would acquire flight details to photograph her at airports and even book rooms in the same hotels as the couple during their vacations.
Furthermore, Prince Harry indicated that this narrative continued even after his marriage to Meghan, now known as the Duchess of Sussex. He wrote, "This twisted objective is still pursued to this day even though I’m now married."
The prince's testimony highlighted his enduring perception of the press actively attempting to undermine his relationships, leaving him feeling targeted and exploited by certain media outlets.
