The Duke of Sussex said it was "incredibly sad" that the Suits actress had to be distant from her father after leading such a public life with the royal family in the couple's Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan. The Duke of Sussex continued by acknowledging that even without him, Meghan would probably still be close to her father. "And I shouldered that because if Meg wasn't with me, then her dad would still be her dad."
The strained relationship between Meghan and her father Thomas was first made public just days before the former actress wed.
By staging photos and speaking to the media against the wishes of his daughter, Thomas allegedly assisted the paparazzi in pushing particular rhetoric.
"H and I called my dad," Meghan recalled. They claim you are using money from the tabloids to stage photos, I said. Is this accurate? He rejects. "No, no, I have things I need to do," he responded. It also felt very cagey, she added.
"I thought, 'It doesn't make sense,'" We then hung up, and I turned to face H. "I don't know why, but I don't believe him," I exclaimed.
