The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have been waiting impatiently for King Charles to extend an invitation for them to spend Christmas at Sandringham with the other senior royals. But soon after, it became clear that Harry and Meghan had not been invited to the 75-year-old monarch's royal lunch, which was scheduled for later this month.
Relationship guru Kate Mansfield told the Mirror that a "disaster" might occur if the former royal couple get back together. She made particular mention of the growing distance between Harry and Prince William, which would probably get worse if they were put in the same room. "If it's true that there was no invitation, that sounds pretty painful," the expert said. "The reality of the situation is that there is a lot of animosity between them and the rest of the family."
"I think that Christmas offers two options, we can use it as a time for forgiveness and building bridges, or to dig up resentments and so the key is really being intentional about it," Mansfield said. "My recommendation would be to spend a cosy and intimate Christmas at home with her spouse and children," she continued.
