Kate Middleton Prioritizes Health Over Royal Duties, Skips Major Event After Completing Chemotherapy
Kate Middleton recently made the decision to prioritize her health over her royal responsibilities, opting to skip the annual diplomatic reception at Buckingham Palace. Despite having attended this prestigious event every year since 2013 (except for 2014), the Princess of Wales was absent this time.
Kate, who had been diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, recently completed a course of preventative chemotherapy. After her treatment, she made a much-anticipated return to royal duties, attending the Remembrance Day services alongside Prince William and the rest of the royal family.
Reports suggest that the mother-of-three is now focusing on hosting a special Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey on December 6. This event is of particular significance this year.
Royal biographer Robert Jobson explained that Kate is taking a careful approach to her recovery. "Kate's very aware of what the future holds, so she's taking the time to focus on getting fit and strong again while she can, and doing it on her own terms," he said. He added that she plans a gradual return to public duties in the new year, starting with engagements related to her early years work.
Jobson also noted that the palace is mindful of how Kate's return to major events might be perceived. "If she did start returning to major social events, that would lead people to think things are back to normal, which isn't the case," he said. "So there’s no pressure on her to do that."
