Meghan Markle Talks Candidly About the 'Catastrophe' She's Facing

Meghan Markle Focuses on "Dealing with a Catastrophe" as She Postpones Netflix Series Amid California Wildfires

Meghan Markle has made it clear that her feelings about the delay of her Netflix series stem from her focus on “dealing with a catastrophe,” according to a source close to the Duchess of Sussex.

Originally, the new series titled *With Love, Meghan* was set to premiere on Wednesday, January 15. However, Meghan and Netflix decided to postpone the release until March 4 due to the ongoing wildfire crisis in California, which is affecting her home state.

With wildfires continuing to ravage Los Angeles, Meghan has been dedicating her efforts to helping residents affected by the disaster.

A source told *PEOPLE*: “Delaying the release of *With Love, Meghan* was probably an easy decision for her. I don’t think she could imagine releasing a show focused on joy and hosting when so many people in her home state no longer have homes to host anyone in.”

The insider also responded to critics, adding, “It’s unfortunate that some people believe she’s postponing the show just to avoid the fires overshadowing it. But we’re all human, and right now, we’re all dealing with a catastrophe.”

As the wildfires continue to devastate Southern California, reports surfaced on Tuesday that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are facing the possibility of being evacuated from their £23 million Montecito mansion. The couple’s upscale neighborhood had been placed under a red flag warning due to the potential for rapid fire spread.

This warning came just days after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex opened their home to friends and family seeking refuge from the fires.

Harry and Meghan have also been actively supporting fire victims through their Archewell Foundation, contributing to relief efforts and making charitable donations. Recently, they were seen serving meals to survivors alongside Governor Gavin Newsom’s wife.

Despite their efforts, the couple has faced criticism. Meghan and Harry were labeled “disaster tourists” by former *Family Ties* star Jane Bateman after photos surfaced of them distributing food and supplies to victims outside the Pasadena Convention Center.

A source close to the couple responded to the criticism, calling it “offensive,” and said, “It’s hurtful for Meghan and Harry that anyone would think this is just a photo op.”

The source also emphasized that Meghan, who was born and raised in Los Angeles, considers the city her home and is deeply saddened by the destruction. They added, “The couple has put in countless hours of volunteer work long before the media even caught wind of their involvement.”
