Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Furious as Prince Edward Represents King at Carter’s Funeral

King Charles Chooses Prince Edward to Represent the Royal Family at Jimmy Carter’s Funeral, Leaving Sussexes Furiou

In a move that seems to have left Prince Harry and Meghan Markle fuming, King Charles has chosen Prince Edward to represent the British royal family at the funeral of President Jimmy Carter, who passed away at the age of 100. The funeral, scheduled for Thursday in the U.S., is a major event, and the royal family has wisely decided to send Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, to pay their respects.

It makes sense, doesn’t it? Edward has gracefully taken on royal responsibilities, making him a natural fit for such an important occasion. Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan live in America, and though proximity might seem to make them the logical choice in their minds, the reality is far different. After all, there’s a better chance of the Queen’s corgis being asked to represent the royal family than these two.

Let’s be clear: it’s unlikely that people who’ve spent the last five years publicly criticizing their family members would be at the top of the list for diplomatic duties. Actions have consequences. King Charles, who is reportedly facing health issues, and Prince William, who is tied up with Princess Catherine's birthday celebrations, are unable to attend, so the responsibility falls to Edward—and it’s the right choice.

Edward, a dignified and professional royal, hasn’t spent the past few years turning family drama into a media spectacle. In contrast, Harry and Meghan, who left the royal family and haven’t exactly embraced royal responsibilities since, are probably at home in Montecito, brainstorming Meghan's next Instagram post or podcast episode.

Let’s not forget, President Carter was a man of great integrity and humility, devoted to humanitarian work and quietly making the world a better place. The idea of Meghan trying to insert herself into a photo op at such a solemn event, complete with her signature "one tear" pose, feels distasteful. Plus, we shouldn’t forget Meghan’s refusal to meet President Trump when she was a working royal—a clear snub to the office, regardless of personal feelings.

Some might argue that if Harry and Meghan hadn’t burned so many bridges, they could have attended the funeral. However, even if they had remained within the royal fold, their history of controversy, from bullying allegations to Netflix tell-alls and constant complaints, likely would’ve disqualified them from such a responsibility. The idea of them attending a state funeral—let alone representing the monarchy—would have opened the door for chaos and further drama. Imagine the *Archewell* team spinning the event into a PR opportunity, with Meghan posing dramatically in black and Harry posting an Instagram message about family unity. It’s exhausting to even think about.

Prince Edward’s attendance is a refreshing change. He’s dignified, professional, and unlikely to make the event about self-promotion. Meanwhile, the Sussexes will probably stew in their mansion, potentially plotting ways to insert themselves into the legacy of President Carter—perhaps with a press release or a teary podcast episode. At this point, nothing would surprise us.

Kudos to King Charles for making the right call. President Carter deserves a royal with class, not a couple of grifters seeking their next Netflix special. As for Harry and Meghan, there’s always the cemetery car park.
