Meghan Markle’s Friend Calls Royal Life a “Peculiar Prison” and Slams Double Standards
Meghan Markle has received a wave of public support from her close friend Bryony Gordon, who has described life inside the royal family as a “peculiar prison.”
Speaking to OK! Magazine, Bryony claimed that Meghan faced “ridiculous double standards” during her time as a working royal, and that very little was done to support her while she struggled.
“Can you blame them for wanting to escape,” Bryony asked, “especially when you compare how Meghan was treated to how Prince Andrew was handled?”
She expressed her frustration, saying, “With every disturbing allegation about Andrew, I’ve become more furious that Meghan received so little help, while so much effort went into protecting him.”
Bryony highlighted an example: Meghan was labeled “Duchess Difficult” for something as small as asking the Queen if she could borrow a tiara for her wedding — while Andrew, she said, “got away with it for decades.”
She also questioned the public’s tolerance for certain behaviors. “Why do people accept all kinds of misconduct from powerful men like Prince Andrew, but judge a woman harshly just because she occasionally emails her staff at 5 a.m.?”
