Usa, violence at the Capitol does not interest Melania: the photo shoot at the White House continues
For the assault on Congress, the First Lady took off, leaving the President's daughter the burden of making herself heard
WASHINGTON. The clashes in Congress have not stopped Melania Trump from engaging in a photo shoot at the White House. While America in shock was glued to the television due to the violence at the Capitol, the First Lady continued undaunted to curate the ongoing report on White House rugs and objects as part of her project for a decor book.
Apparently cold and disinterested, Melania dodged all the questions about the clashes and about a possible intervention of her husband to calm her minds. She continued to follow the photographers on the set, effectively distancing herself from everything and everyone, even from her husband on whom she has a strong influence.
The influence of the First Lady on her husband is known to all but, on the violence in Congress, Melania slipped away leaving Ivanka Trump, the president's daughter, the task and the burden of making herself heard. It was Ivanka, according to rumors, who took the situation in hand: while all the calls to intervene fell on deaf ears, Trump's daughter kicked everyone out of the Oval Office and remained face to face with her father, pressing him relentlessly on the need to speak to the nation and calm the protesters.
Faced with pressure from his favorite daughter, Trump first hesitated, then eventually gave in, even if only partially. While keeping his dry no to a speech live to the nation, Trump allowed himself to be persuaded to record a video from the Rose Garden. A video in which the president described the demonstrators as "very special people": "We love you," he said. A video that has raised a lot of controversy and its block on social media. For Ivanka, therefore, only a partial "success", and a new blow to her political aspirations.

Both the media and some collaborators were wondering if the First Lady would tweet to call for calm. Melania made no comment, however, even when her spokesperson, Stephanie Grisham, and the White House secretary for social events, Anna Cristina "Rickie" Nicetas, resigned, outraged by the assault on the Capitol.
