Following the death of her husband, Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II will respect a first period of official mourning of eight days.
Operation Forth Bridge - the funeral of Prince Philip - has already started, reports the "Daily Mail". Following the death of Prince Philip on Friday April 9, 2021, at the respectable age of 99, his wife, Queen Elizabeth II, will respect a first period of mourning of eight days, without commitment. All state affairs will be suspended. A new period of royal mourning of thirty days will then be observed, but with less restrictions. Official commitments, most of them online due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will be limited, but may continue, especially those for charitable causes.
Regarding the funeral, their precise date has not yet been set, Queen Elizabeth II could take the floor to address the Nation but it will not be a state funeral. The Lord Chamberlain, the highest ranking official in the royal household, will be in charge of their organization.
The body of the deceased will rest in Windsor Castle before the funeral which will take place in Saint George's Chapel. The Duke of Edinburgh is next to be buried in Frogmore Gardens, in the grounds of Windsor Castle, like Queen Victoria and Prince Albert before him.
