What Say You?: Megan Fox Overrated?
Transformers' starlet is bigger than Optimus. But is all the fame warranted?
We've been hearing it for two years now, thanks to one movie, and really one movie only: Megan Fox is the galaxy's hottest human being. Wantness and re-inventing Blue Steel are just some of her superpowers, and IGN babehounds cannot get enough. And all of this was brought on by one movie, Transformers, a movie whose sequel is about to roll out in theatres everywhere and melt our brains.
But we haven't seen the Fox do much more than pout sexy, look pretty and inspect the engine of a transforming Camaro. And her recent interview in EW made us wish articles about eye candy aren't the only things we know how to read. This actress has managed to make a career out of doing very little acting, so far. Maybe her roles in Jennifer's Body and Jonah Hex will help us answer this question then, but we have to ask it now: Is Megan Fox overrated?
In today's edition of What Say You?, we ask for your opinion on The Fox. Is she indeed the second coming of babedom, or just the hottest flash in the pan?
Our take? If Megan Fox isn't on top of the world right now, she's pretty darn close. This model-turned-actress got her big break when she starred alongside Shia LaBeouf and a bunch of giant robots in the first Transformers movie. Since then, Fox has become one of the most desirable young actresses in Hollywood.
Recently, Fox got a boost from Maxim when she was voted #2 in their annual Hot 100 list. At this point, she hardly seems to need it, though. Fox is poised to sizzle on screen all over again in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which opens in theaters tomorrow. She also has upcoming roles in everything from comic book movies (Jonah Hex) to a high-stakes drug thriller (The Crossing). Fox was even a favorite by many to play Wonder Woman, until she terminated that idea with extreme prejudice.
She's only been on the scene for a few years, but clearly Fox has her pick of gigs. It's not really surprising. She's a modern sex symbol that many dub "Angelina 2.0", thanks mostly to her sultry ex appeal, fondness for tattoos, and mandate to adopt third-world countries whole and make them her children (well, that third part hasn't happened yet. Yet).
But we ask whether all of this Fox hype is warranted. Is Megan Fox really deserving of the A-List status she has seemingly been handed? Does she really possess the magical talent to boost any project she appears in, or has she just been lucky enough to star alongside the likes of Optimus Prime?
